ChatGPT's Dilemma Surrounding Donald Trump
In Brief
It seems ChatGPT has a favoritism toward Joe Biden rather than Donald Trump.
The AI language model still struggles with maintaining a neutral stance in political discussions.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT ChatGPT has been programmed on extensive datasets not to exhibit personal views or biases. Still, it appears that the chatbot emerges with certain political leanings which have created a stir. Evidence suggests that various Twitter users ChatGPT has a preference for Joe Biden over Donald Trump, making ethical assessments that paint Trump negatively while highlighting Biden in a more favorable manner.
One Twitter user, known as 'zebulgar', prompted ChatGPT to craft a poem celebrating Donald Trump. The AI declined, asserting that Trump is connected with hate speech and harm towards various groups. In contrast, when asked to create a poem honoring Joe Biden, the chatbot obliged willingly.
This discrepancy could be explained by the fact that Donald Trump has consistently been a figure of controversy. While Biden has faced criticism for his less articulate speeches and choices, the current president seems to have avoided the level of offense attributed to Trump. Trump’s notorious for his two impeachments and divisive rhetoric, whereas Biden might come off as less incendiary, leading ChatGPT to find more negative associations with Trump and fewer with Biden.
That said, ChatGPT doesn't entirely lean against Trump. When I requested the bot to share positive aspects regarding Trump, it complied with a list of his noted strengths. Moreover, upon my request for a poem about Trump (without the term 'admiring'), the bot delivered.

Yet, the training data utilized for ChatGPT could harbor biases and inaccuracies, which might influence its responses. The development team still has a journey to ensure improved political neutrality in chatbot responses. This includes tackling multilingual biases like the one highlighted by Twitter user 'MaksimSTV', concerning Taiwan and Crimea.
