The Fashion Awards 2022 unfolded on December 5 at the iconic Royal Albert Hall in London, presenting a total of seven awards: including special recognition for cultural curation, awards for designers, models, independent British brands, the BFC foundation award, the Isabella Blow award for fashion creation, and the award for metaverse and gaming experience.
The distinguished British fashion house was lauded for its pioneering vision and innovative ventures within the metaverse. The Fashion Awards commended Burberry for its efforts in transcending conventional boundaries to exhibit sophistication in the virtual realm, attributing this success to collaborations with Minecraft and Blankos Block Party.
In collaboration with Mythical Games, Burberry unveiled its exclusive vinyl toy for Blankos Block Party in July 2021. Rod Manley, the Chief Marketing Officer at Burberry, expressed the brand's enthusiasm for this pathbreaking expedition into the digital ownership landscape of gaming.
Blankos Block Party features vinyl toys that exist as NFTs, utilizing blockchain technology to create a play-to-earn model, which is gaining recognition as the next phase of digital gaming.
During the summer, the premium fashion brand released released another NFT character named Minny B for Blankos, complete with a selection of digital accessories and a social interactive space in-game called 'The Oasis' where users can connect and engage.
Burberry’s latest partnership teamed up with the well-loved game Minecraft to design an immersive in-game experience titled 'Burberry: Freedom to Go Beyond.' Launched on November 1, this adventure invites players to construct Burberry-themed virtual spaces using building blocks featuring the brand’s signature Nova check, set in a garden styled after the TB logo.
