BlockBar has initiated the auction for the Japanese whisky NFT titled ‘The Last Masterpiece 1970.’

BlockBar recently unveiled an NFT auction that showcases one of the most exclusive whiskies in existence. This particular NFT edition is a one-of-a-kind piece featuring a 50-year-old Karuizawa, originally distilled in 1970 and bottled in 2020.

The bottle for 'The Last Masterpiece 1970' showcases exquisite calligraphy crafted by Souun Takeda, embodying the traditional Kanji aesthetic. This release is intended to convey and celebrate the richness of Japanese heritage.

Bidding for the auction will be open until July 18 at 5 PM EST. The starting bid is set at 69.09 ETH, which was around $75,000 at the time of writing. Participants must ensure they have sufficient funds in their digital wallets on the BlockBar platform or have pre-authorization for wire transfers.

Specializing in the luxury wines and spirits domain, BlockBar is an NFT marketplace that collaborates directly with renowned distilleries and prestigious brands worldwide. The site features various NFTs that correspond to real bottles from high-end liquor producers. NFT owners can opt to keep their bottles securely stored in BlockBar’s Singapore facility or redeem them at their convenience.

In addition to BlockBar, there are several other NFT marketplaces focusing on wines and spirits, including those showcasing limited-edition 'Bitcoin' bottles.
