BitGo Unveils New Collaboration with EigenLayer, Opening Doors for ETH Restaking and EIGEN Staking Solutions for Corporations
In Brief
In collaboration with EigenLayer, BitGo has enhanced its services to empower institutional users in managing their digital assets while tapping into the ever-growing decentralized finance (DeFi) landscape.

A leading provider of solutions in digital asset management, BitGo Trust Company , announced its integration with EigenLayer This Ethereum restaking protocol now supports native ETH restaking and EIGEN token staking across various wallet types—cold self-custody, hot self-custody, and custodial wallets. As a result, institutional clients can seamlessly manage their digital assets while actively participating in the vibrant DeFi space.
Clients can stake EIGEN through BitGo's secure platform, enabling them to participate actively and earn rewards. Moreover, ETH holders can choose to restake their ETH into the EigenLayer’s Active Validated Services (AVS), allowing institutions to back decentralized protocols while earning additional AVS rewards—all without sacrificing security, thereby maximizing the performance of their staked ETH.
BitGo clients have the ability to delegate their assets to AVS operators that BitGo selects based on their expertise within the EigenLayer framework. This delegation strategy assists clients in diversifying their risk, assessing operators, and perfecting their staking tactics, ensuring that every choice adds up to informed decisions that align with their investment aspirations.
Currently, there are no slashing penalties applied for ETH restaking, although this might evolve in the future. It’s worth noting that regular ETH staking does incur slashing penalties. For those wishing to restake their ETH into EigenLayer, they must first completely unstake their ETH, which involves an unbonding period of about seven days. This duration can influence the timing of returns and should be taken into account when formulating staking strategies. EIGEN As the foremost qualified custodian for digital assets, BitGo is thrilled to announce that native staking options for institutions have been enabled thanks to our partnership with EigenLayer BitGo Partners with Stacks to Introduce Support for sBTC
