Binance Labs has made a notable investment in Renzo to strengthen Liquid Restaking in the EigenLayer Ecosystem.
In Brief
In an effort to improve shared security and effective risk management for restaking, Binance Labs is channeling funds into Renzo, which serves as the core hub for restaking within the EigenLayer framework.

Binance's venture capital and incubation arm is focused on fostering innovation in the space. Binance Labs announced its investment in Renzo As a token leveraging Liquid Restaking (LRT), Renzo is designed to promote the widespread implementation of the EigenLayer protocol, highlighting its focus on secure practices and risk management within restaking initiatives. With Binance Labs' backing, Renzo is poised for significant growth.
Serving as the Restaking Hub for EigenLayer, Renzo Protocol utilizes Ethereum smart contracts to foster seamless cooperation between stakers, node operators, and Actively Validated Services (AVSs). These contracts aim to streamline restaking mechanics, the delegation process to node operators, and user interactions with on-chain services for both end-users and EigenLayer node operators.
In addition, Renzo Protocol provides security for AVSs and aims to deliver more attractive yields compared to traditional methods. Ethereum (ETH) staking.
Renzo’s innovative technology tackles the challenges inherent in Liquid Restaking, making it more accessible for a broader range of users. Yi He, co-founder of Binance and head of Binance Labs, expressed enthusiasm about supporting groundbreaking DeFi initiatives that present new use cases, and he anticipates observing Renzo’s advancement in the Liquid Restaking market.
The news comes on the day of EigenLayer The protocol has secured a substantial funding amounting to $100M from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), noted EigenLayer founder Sreeram Kannan, who specified that a16z was the sole investor in this funding phase.
Restaking is an evolution of Ethereum's (ETH) staking method, where tokens are locked in to support network transaction validation on the blockchain. This approach allows emerging projects within the Ethereum ecosystem to utilize its robust security features for their operational needs.
Renzo partners with top-tier node operators to enable native ETH restaking while accommodating both native ETH deposits and LST tokens like stETH and wBETH. Users benefit by receiving ezETH for each LST or ETH they stake on Renzo, thus encapsulating their restaked standing along with all accrued yields and incentives into a single LRT token.
Moreover, the protocol is joining forces with bridging partners to facilitate the cross-chain transfer of ETH from other Layer 1 (L1) and Layer 2 (L2) networks onto EigenLayer, simplifying the user experience across different blockchain ecosystems.
Lucas Kozinski, a founding contributor of Renzo, expressed gratitude for the robust support from the Binance community, highlighting the integration of best practices in DeFi to elevate the restaking process on EigenLayer. Layer 2 Renzo focuses on managing restaking risks and portfolios, building relationships with reputable node operators and collaborating with researchers in DeFi. The experienced team behind Renzo is committed to creating new value through innovative LRT solutions while emphasizing security and risk management consistent with the best practices observed in DeFi within the EigenLayer framework.
