Avail Collaborates With dWallet Network to Launch Native Bitcoin Rollups in Web3

Dubai, UAE, April 2, 2024, Chainwire

Post-integration, users will now have the capability to manage their Bitcoin directly on any rollup within the Avail ecosystem, maintaining full control over their digital assets.

Avail , an innovative modular blockchain framework aimed at optimizing data availability (DA) for scalable and customizable applications, has teamed up with dWallet Network , a groundbreaking decentralized multi-chain layer that operates without collusion, to integrate programmable native Bitcoin into the Avail ecosystem's rollups.

Thanks to the introduction of the dWallet primitive, smart contracts using rollups developed on Avail DA will for the first time be able to manage native Bitcoin programmatically, all while ensuring user ownership. This represents a significant departure from traditional Bitcoin Layer 2 solutions that typically rely on colluding and often unsafe cross-chain alternatives like bridges, where users must forfeit control of their BTC.

"Enabling BTC to be used programmatically on other blockchains through a trust-minimized framework is an ingenious method for boosting BTC adoption,\" commented Anurag Arjun, co-founder of Avail. \"Collaborating with dWallet allows us to introduce Layer-2 rollups on the Bitcoin architecture. From a DA standpoint, Bitcoin offers the highest level of security, making it an exceptional foundation. Consequently, the dWallet integration will empower users with flexible execution and logic configurations to safeguard their BTC using a decentralized multiparty computation (MPC) solution.\"

Essentially, this partnership seeks to utilize dWallet’s MPC infrastructure to bolster Bitcoin's functionality by creating native Bitcoin rollups. This advancement means more secure and efficient transaction processing on the Bitcoin blockchain, broadening the kinds of operations beyond mere financial transactions.

The collaboration with dWallet Network, along with the capability to manage dWallets through smart contracts on any Avail rollup, has been made feasible due to Avail Nexus, a zero-knowledge coordination rollup that incorporates validity-proof based lightweight clients and execution proof aggregation. This critical advancement towards a unified Web3 will also allow developers to leverage the borrowed security of Avail Fusion from the native assets of the most established ecosystems, including BTC and ETH.

Moreover, as the dWallet Network integration comes into play, it will support the Fusion Security model, which will enable users to securely hold their BTC, ETH, or other digital assets in dWallets, and stake these assets to enhance the safety of the Avail ecosystem, all while retaining ownership of their original assets. This marks the introduction of the first native multi-chain staking and restaking mechanism specifically designed to reinforce the consensus of different blockchains.

For implementing the dWallet primitive, the dWallet Network utilizes the cutting-edge 2PC-MPC protocol, conceived by its team. This groundbreaking multiparty protocol allows for the generation of a ECDSA signature securely, necessitating participation from both the user and numerous nodes, potentially numbering in the hundreds or even thousands.

The dWallet technology enables a Solidity smart contract on an Avail rollup to generate Bitcoin signatures while allowing developers to manage a dWallet effectively. Additionally, the dWallet Network requires authorization from the Avail rollup's smart contract for logic enforcement, which necessitates users to complete the signature process, thereby safeguarding against collusion and potential asset theft. Whether it's for Web3 applications in custody, DeFi, DAOs, gaming, or other sectors, any protocol that runs on an Avail rollup can utilize dWallets for superior functionality and secure interoperability.

"We are thrilled to partner with Avail, as our visions of a cohesive Web3 align closely, with both organizations working diligently to connect numerous disparate ecosystems,\" stated Omer Sadika, co-founder of dWallet Network. \"We are resolute in our belief that the future of Web3 lies in a multi-chain framework, rather than a traditional cross-chain approach. Together with Avail, we will labor indefatigably to turn this vision into reality.\"

This recent collaboration fits seamlessly with Avail’s goal of harmonizing Web3, for which it has already adopted a robust full-stack architecture consisting of three cutting-edge solutions — DA, Nexus, and Fusion Security — aimed at paving the path for a rollup future and addressing the burgeoning scalability challenges faced by the blockchain industry.

Avail DA serves as the foundational pillar of the Avail trinity, providing ample blobspace for rollup developers and acting as a primary layer for a diverse and thriving ecosystem of rollups. Avail Nexus is designed to unify the ecosystem beyond the blockchains that sit atop Avail’s DA layer, utilizing Avail DA as a trust anchor for cross-ecosystem coordination.

Finally, Fusion Security will deliver enhanced protection to a growing network of rollups and blockchains, thus reinforcing Avail’s consensus framework. By integrating the dWallets into the Avail trinity, it accelerates the absorption of Web3, tackles fragmentation issues, and sets the stage for a fully integrated, secure, and native experience across assorted Web3 environments.

About Dwallet Network

dWallet Network serves as the home for dWallets—programmable and transferable signing mechanisms that exist on-chain. dWallet Network empowers builders on both L1s and L2s to leverage dWallets as foundational tools for managing assets and enforcing logic throughout the Web3 landscape in a decentralized, non-colluding manner.
