Atomionics Presents Advanced AI Tools for Mineral Identification

In Brief

Introducing an innovative system that combines gravitational data analysis and artificial intelligence to accurately locate ore deposits by processing data in real-time.

Atomionics Launches Cutting-Edge AI Solutions for Ore Discovery

Singapore-based start-up Atomionics The firm has rolled out their innovative technology harnessing gravity and AI for ore body detection to their first clients. Atomionics has entered into agreements with three leading mining companies to help them identify valuable ore bodies containing essential metals for the energy transition.

Using the gravity signatures unique to various minerals, Atomionics differentiates the locations of those minerals beneath the Earth’s surface, claiming a higher degree of accuracy than traditional aerial survey methods, along with facilitating AI immediate data processing, thus speeding up the identification of ore formations.

Expected to wrap up early next year, the major mining players are set to gather and analyze data using the innovative ‘virtual drill’ technology named Gravio.

The cost of drilling a single exploration hole typically ranges from A$10,000 to A$50,000. With lithium miners often requiring as many as 400 holes to validate a resource, having a more precise virtual model ahead of actual drilling can greatly reduce costs.

Atomionics seeks to tackle a significant hurdle in mineral exploration: the frequent occurrence of drill holes bypassing the ore. Their goal is to minimize these unsuccessful samples by at least 50%.

Exploring the Role of AI in the Mining Sector

The mining realm employs a variety of methods to locate minerals, including ground-penetrating radar and aeromagnetic surveys. However, no single approach guarantees successful results.

KoBold Metals, a startup from California backed by tech giants like Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos, is harnessing AI in the hunt for metals such as lithium. Recently, they revealed plans to widen their search for these critical resources in light of the increasing global demand for sustainable energy. electric vehicles .

The blend of gravity analysis with advanced AI in Atomionics’ technology promises to revolutionize mining practices. Supported by multiple Singaporean governmental bodies and key investors, the company is poised to make significant strides in the sector.
