In a blog entry, Eldagsen elaborated on how he leveraged his photographic expertise in crafting the award-winning image, positioning himself as a director of sorts in conjunction with AI generators. Although inspired by the art of photography, he firmly stated that the result is not a photograph. He aims to influence the awards by advocating for distinct competitions focused on AI-generated art.

Ultimately, Eldagsen decided not to accept the accolade. In his message, he thanked the organizers for recognizing his work, noting the historic nature of an AI piece winning in a globally esteemed photography contest. He questioned how many people were aware that the work was AI-created, pointing out a certain discomfort in the competition between AI images and traditional photography, insisting they belong to different domains. He concluded, 'Thus, I will not accept this award.'

A photo depicting Eldagsen capturing a moment of himself on stage during the ceremony was promptly removed from the event’s website after its initial publication. Interestingly, he had traveled to London to participate in the ceremony and made a point to address the audience directly.
