The AWS European Sovereign Cloud, distinct from the existing AWS Regions, maintains the same elevated standards of security, availability, and performance that the AWS brand is well-regarded for. With its inaugural region based in Germany, it presents European users with yet another option to effectively handle their data residency, operational independence, and resilience requirements. This launch reaffirms AWS’s dedication to delivering the most sophisticated sovereignty controls, privacy protections, and security capabilities available in the cloud landscape.
Control of operations and support for the AWS European Sovereign Cloud will be managed exclusively by AWS personnel residing in the EU. Clients with heightened data residency criteria will also have the ability to retain all metadata generated within the EU, including roles, permissions, resource designations, and configurations necessary for AWS operations. Additionally, it will come equipped with its own billing and usage monitoring systems.
