Amazon ENS domain receives a $1M bid

The owner of the ENS domain 'amazon.eth' has received an enticing offer of $1 million.
Despite having purchased the domain on February 7 for 33 ETH, approximately $90,800, the owner decided to let the $1 million offer lapse after it went unaccepted and expired yesterday, July 19, at 3 PM EST. It remains uncertain whether the owner thought the offer was insufficient or simply overlooked it.
Interestingly, the anonymous individual who placed the bid did so in USDC, which is a digital stablecoin tied to the US dollar. This bidder also expressed interest in over 20 other ENS domains, including 'jefferyjefferybezos.eth.'
ENS stands for Ethereum Name Service, a decentralized, open-source naming protocol for the internet. Both individuals and organizations can leverage ENS for their cryptocurrency wallet addresses, Web3 usernames, and sites linked to decentralized platforms. Domain names can either be purchased from secondary markets like OpenSea or created directly through the official ENS website.
Since May, there has been a notable surge in demand for three- and four-digit ENS domain names. A great example is the sale of the ENS domain '000.eth,' which fetched a remarkable price. sold for 300 ETH (approximately $320,000 at the time) on July 3.
The crypto community is so invested in this market that they have even set up dedicated Twitter accounts to share updates regarding domain sales and pricing.
As the trend continues, users have begun to create ENS domains featuring Arabic and Chinese numerals, which, as of July 20, have also completely sold out.
