The notable sportswear leader, Adidas, is introducing its first NFT collection that can be worn, coming under its Originals brand—an initiative focused on heritage and lifestyle themes. This collection, named Virtual Gear, will be part of a fresh set of interoperable products. Adidas Originals Initially, Adidas has introduced 16 phygital items that fuse nostalgic elements with futuristic designs. Interestingly, these creations are compatible with both avatars in virtual spaces and profile pictures. Holders can utilize their wearables across various metaverses and identity-focused projects, both existing and on the horizon.

Alongside the main collection, Adidas has unveiled three exclusive wearables crafted in collaboration with renowned crypto influencer Gmoney, the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT community, and Punks Comics. It's essential to highlight that owners of BAYC, MAYC, and Inhabitants NFTs will soon have the opportunity to 'dress' their avatars using Adidas’s forthcoming PFP Tool.

Holders of Adidas Originals' Capsule and Phase 2 Capsule NFTs have already received their Virtual Gear NFTs and are now able to burn their capsules to mint the wearables. Those who missed out on previous token drops from Adidas can access Virtual Gear through NFT marketplaces.

As Nic Galway, the Senior VP of Creative Direction for Adidas Originals, states, 'Our brand has continuously been about pushing the limits of creativity and discovering what lies ahead. Web3 opens up a new realm for our designers and partners to envision and redefine how our brand can exist in augmented and virtual realities. We're immensely proud that this virtual collection signifies not just a remarkable first for Adidas but also an idea of clothing that transcends temporal boundaries, a vibrantly diverse community, and a level of usefulness that can evolve and be rediscovered as avatars and worlds take on new identities.'

Adidas is looking to bolster its strategy in the metaverse, inspired by Nike's recent initiatives.

Introducing Swoosh, a community platform that invites users to co-create phygital garment designs, participate in community events, and trade unique designs.

The innovative collective known as WAGMI United has teamed up with Adidas to launch NFTs. introduced a Web3 platform Hannah Elizabeth, a former contestant from 'Love Island,' is set to auction a 3D NFT scan of her body.
