NFT ticketing is being considered for the 2024 Olympic Games set to take place in Paris.

There’s a chance that tickets for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris could be available as NFTs.
In light of the recent chaos before the UEFA Champions League final, where mass ticket forgery caused significant delays, the French government is now looking at implementing stricter security measures. The match, featuring Real Madrid versus Liverpool, faced disruptions that escalated to law enforcement employing tear gas, resulting in a significant embarrassment for the host nation.
As a result of this incident, Michel Cadot, the French Government's Olympics envoy, has compiled a detailed 30-page report for the Prime Minister’s Office. The document outlines strategies for blockchain-based ticketing solutions aimed at combating the problems of counterfeit tickets.
Michel Cadot mentioned that during the Paris 2024 Games, ticketing will become more personalized. This initiative will enable attendees to receive real-time updates related to transportation, safety, and venue access through digital means. NFTs representing tickets will be sent out shortly before the event, specifically via SMS, with entrance QR codes becoming inactive once attendees enter the venue.
Cadot emphasized the need for coordinated efforts, suggesting that the techniques developed could be beneficial for other significant international sporting events leading up to the Rugby World Cup and the Olympics in 2024, thereby enhancing operational readiness and multi-organizational management for overcoming challenges.
France plans to adopt non-fungible tokens for ticketing during the 2023 Rugby World Cup as well.
